El cr\u00e9dito se otorga por cada hijo menor de 17 a\u00f1os al final del a\u00f1o, o menor de 18 a\u00f1os para el a\u00f1o fiscal 2021.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. \u00bfC\u00f3mo ha cambiado el Cr\u00e9dito Tributario por Hijos a lo largo de los a\u00f1os?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>El Cr\u00e9dito Tributario por Hijos ha evolucionado a lo largo de los a\u00f1os. A continuaci\u00f3n, una breve historia:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Para los a\u00f1os fiscales <strong>2017 y anteriores<\/strong>, el monto del cr\u00e9dito era de $1,000 por ni\u00f1o, y se requer\u00eda que el ni\u00f1o tuviera una Tarjeta de Identificaci\u00f3n Individual v\u00e1lida. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irs.gov\/individuals\/international-taxpayers\/taxpayer-identification-numbers-tin#:~:text=An%20ITIN%2C%20or%20Individual%20Taxpayer,NNN%2DNN%2DNNNN).\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">N\u00famero de Identificaci\u00f3n del Contribuyente (ITIN)<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/history\/ssn\/geocard.html\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">N\u00famero de Seguro Social (SSN)<\/a>, o <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irs.gov\/individuals\/adoption-taxpayer-identification-number\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">N\u00famero de Identificaci\u00f3n del Contribuyente para Adopciones (ATIN)<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Para los a\u00f1os fiscales <strong>2018 a 2020<\/strong>, El cr\u00e9dito aument\u00f3 a $2,000 por hijo, de los cuales $1,400 ser\u00edan reembolsables. El umbral de ingresos laborales para el reembolso del cr\u00e9dito se redujo de $3,000 a $2,500.<\/li>\n<li>Para el a\u00f1o fiscal <strong>2021<\/strong>, el cr\u00e9dito aument\u00f3 a $3,000 para ni\u00f1os de 6 a 17 a\u00f1os y $3,600 para ni\u00f1os de 5 a\u00f1os o menos antes del 31 de diciembre de 2021. El cr\u00e9dito completo es reembolsable para este a\u00f1o, sin necesidad de ingresos laborales.<\/li>\n<li>Para el a\u00f1o fiscal <strong>2022<\/strong>, el cr\u00e9dito es de $2.000 por ni\u00f1o, y hasta $1.500 del mismo es reembolsable.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Ejemplo: <\/strong>Consideremos el ejemplo de un empleado del gobierno estadounidense residente en Puerto Rico. Tiene dos hijos de 7 y 5 a\u00f1os en el a\u00f1o fiscal 2021. Tendr\u00eda derecho a un CTC de $3,000 por su hijo de 7 a\u00f1os y $3,600 por su hijo de 5 a\u00f1os, lo que suma un total de $6,600. Si su obligaci\u00f3n tributaria es de $4,000, su factura tributaria se reducir\u00eda a cero y podr\u00eda recibir un reembolso de los $2,600 restantes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. \u00bfCu\u00e1les son los requisitos para reclamar el Cr\u00e9dito Tributario por Hijos en 2021?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>En 2021, para reclamar el Cr\u00e9dito Tributario por Hijos:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>El hijo calificado debe tener un N\u00famero de Seguro Social (SSN) emitido antes de la fecha de vencimiento de la declaraci\u00f3n (incluidas las extensiones).<\/li>\n<li>El contribuyente y su c\u00f3nyuge, si presentan una declaraci\u00f3n conjunta, deben tener un SSN o ITIN v\u00e1lido emitido antes de la fecha de vencimiento de la declaraci\u00f3n (incluidas las pr\u00f3rrogas).<\/li>\n<li>Existen l\u00edmites de ingresos para la elegibilidad. El total del Cr\u00e9dito Tributario por Hijos se reduce gradualmente en $50 por cada $1,000 (o fracci\u00f3n) que el Ingreso Bruto Ajustado (AGI) supere $150,000 en caso de declaraci\u00f3n conjunta\/viudo(a) que cumple los requisitos, $112,500 si es cabeza de familia, $75,000 para todos los dem\u00e1s estados civiles.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>4. \u00bfQu\u00e9 significa el t\u00e9rmino \u201celiminaci\u00f3n gradual\u201d?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cLa &quot;eliminaci\u00f3n gradual&quot; se refiere a la reducci\u00f3n gradual de un cr\u00e9dito fiscal a medida que los ingresos del contribuyente superan ciertos umbrales. Cuanto mayores sean sus ingresos, menor ser\u00e1 el cr\u00e9dito al que podr\u00e1 optar.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5. \u00bfQui\u00e9n califica como ni\u00f1o para el Cr\u00e9dito Tributario por Hijos?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Un hijo calificado para este cr\u00e9dito es alguien que:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Est\u00e1 reclamado como dependiente en su declaraci\u00f3n de impuestos.<\/li>\n<li>Es hijo, hija, hijastro, hijo adoptivo, hermano, hermana, hermanastro, hermanastra, medio hermano, media hermana o descendiente de cualquiera de ellos (por ejemplo, su nieto, sobrina o sobrino).<\/li>\n<li>Tiene menos de 17 a\u00f1os (o menos de 18 a\u00f1os para el a\u00f1o fiscal 2021) al final del a\u00f1o fiscal.<\/li>\n<li>Era ciudadano estadounidense, nacional estadounidense o extranjero residente en los Estados Unidos.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>6. \u00bfC\u00f3mo afecta el CTC a los empleados del gobierno de Estados Unidos en Puerto Rico?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Los empleados del gobierno estadounidense en Puerto Rico pueden solicitar el Cr\u00e9dito Tributario por Hijos para reducir su obligaci\u00f3n tributaria federal. Si el cr\u00e9dito excede su obligaci\u00f3n tributaria, pueden solicitar un reembolso por la diferencia.<\/p>\n<p><strong>7. \u00bfC\u00f3mo puedo reclamar el Cr\u00e9dito Tributario por Hijos?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Para reclamar el Cr\u00e9dito Tributario por Hijos, presente <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irs.gov\/forms-pubs\/about-form-1040\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Formulario 1040<\/a> con el IRS. Los empleados del gobierno de los Estados Unidos en Puerto Rico tambi\u00e9n deben presentar los Formularios 481\/482 ante el <a href=\"https:\/\/hacienda.pr.gov\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Departamento de Hacienda <\/a>\u2013 Puerto Rico.<\/p>\n<p><strong>8. \u00bfPuedo reclamar retroactivamente el Cr\u00e9dito Tributario por Hijos?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>El &quot;\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.finance.senate.gov\/download\/summary-of-the-protecting-americans-from-tax-hikes-path-act-of-2015\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ley de Protecci\u00f3n de los Estadounidenses contra el Aumento de Impuestos (PATH) de 2015<\/a>\u201d proh\u00edbe que una persona reclame retroactivamente el cr\u00e9dito tributario por hijo para cualquier a\u00f1o en el que el contribuyente, c\u00f3nyuge o hijo calificado no haya tenido un N\u00famero de Identificaci\u00f3n Tributaria (TIN) v\u00e1lido emitido en o antes de la fecha de vencimiento o la fecha de vencimiento extendida de la declaraci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p><strong>9. \u00bfPueden los residentes bona fide de Puerto Rico que no sean empleados del Gobierno de los Estados Unidos reclamar el Cr\u00e9dito Tributario por Hijos?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>No, el Cr\u00e9dito Tributario por Hijos no est\u00e1 disponible en el Formulario 1040 para residentes bona fide de Puerto Rico que no sean empleados del Gobierno de los EE. UU.<\/p>\n<p><strong>10. \u00bfQu\u00e9 es el Cr\u00e9dito Tributario Adicional por Hijos?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>El Cr\u00e9dito Tributario Adicional por Hijos (ACTC) es un cr\u00e9dito reembolsable que usted puede recibir si su Cr\u00e9dito Tributario por Hijos es mayor que el monto total de impuestos a la renta que debe, siempre que haya tenido un ingreso ganado de al menos $2,500.<\/p>\n<p><strong>11. \u00bfQu\u00e9 es el Cr\u00e9dito para Otros Dependientes (ODC)?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>El Cr\u00e9dito por Otros Dependientes (ODC) es un cr\u00e9dito fiscal disponible para dependientes que no califican para el Cr\u00e9dito Tributario por Hijos. Este cr\u00e9dito aplica para los a\u00f1os fiscales 2018-2025 y se solicita en el Anexo 8812. El monto del cr\u00e9dito, seg\u00fan el IRC 24, es $500.<\/p>\n<p><strong>12. \u00bfQu\u00e9 es el Formulario 1040 y <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irs.gov\/forms-pubs\/about-schedule-8812-form-1040#:~:text=Use%20Schedule%208812%20(Form%201040,tax%20credit%20payments%20during%202021.\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Anexo 8812<\/a>?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>El Formulario 1040 es la Declaraci\u00f3n de Impuesto sobre la Renta de las Personas F\u00edsicas de EE. UU. Es el formulario federal est\u00e1ndar que se utiliza para declarar los ingresos brutos de una persona.<\/p>\n<p>El Anexo 8812 es el formulario que se utiliza para calcular y declarar tanto el Cr\u00e9dito Tributario por Hijos como el Cr\u00e9dito Tributario Adicional por Hijos. En ciertos a\u00f1os fiscales, tambi\u00e9n se utiliza para calcular el Cr\u00e9dito por Otros Dependientes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>13. \u00bfCu\u00e1les son los requisitos de presentaci\u00f3n para los empleados del gobierno de los Estados Unidos en Puerto Rico?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Los empleados del gobierno de los Estados Unidos en Puerto Rico deben presentar su <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irs.gov\/forms-pubs\/about-form-1040\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Formulario 1040 <\/a>Con el IRS y su Formulario 481\/482 con el Departamento de Hacienda de Puerto Rico. Pueden calificar para el Cr\u00e9dito Tributario por Hijos y el Cr\u00e9dito Tributario Adicional por Hijos.<\/p>\n<p><strong>14. \u00bfQu\u00e9 pasa si no tengo un N\u00famero de Seguro Social (SSN) o un N\u00famero de Identificaci\u00f3n Personal del Contribuyente (ITIN)?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Para el Cr\u00e9dito Tributario por Hijos, el hijo que califica debe tener un N\u00famero de Seguro Social (SSN) emitido antes de la fecha l\u00edmite de la declaraci\u00f3n (incluidas las pr\u00f3rrogas). El contribuyente y su c\u00f3nyuge, si presentan una declaraci\u00f3n conjunta, deben tener un SSN o ITIN v\u00e1lido emitido antes de la fecha l\u00edmite de la declaraci\u00f3n (incluidas las pr\u00f3rrogas).<\/p>\n<p><strong>15. \u00bfC\u00f3mo se elimina progresivamente el Cr\u00e9dito Tributario por Hijos?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>El Cr\u00e9dito Tributario por Hijos se reduce o se elimina gradualmente si su Ingreso Bruto Ajustado (AGI) supera ciertos l\u00edmites, que var\u00edan seg\u00fan el a\u00f1o fiscal y la situaci\u00f3n tributaria. El cr\u00e9dito se reduce en $50 por cada $1,000 (o fracci\u00f3n) en que su AGI supere el umbral de eliminaci\u00f3n gradual.<\/p>\n<p><strong>16. \u00bfExisten diferentes reglas para el Cr\u00e9dito Tributario por Hijos para diferentes a\u00f1os fiscales?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>S\u00ed, las reglas para el Cr\u00e9dito Tributario por Hijos var\u00edan seg\u00fan el a\u00f1o fiscal. Cambios en la ley, como los promulgados en respuesta a la <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irs.gov\/newsroom\/covid-19-related-tax-credits-basic-faqs\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Pandemia de COVID-19<\/a>, han alterado temporalmente el monto del cr\u00e9dito, la posibilidad de reembolso, los umbrales de eliminaci\u00f3n gradual y otros aspectos del cr\u00e9dito.<\/p>\n<p><strong>17. \u00bfEs reembolsable el Cr\u00e9dito Tributario por Hijos?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>El Cr\u00e9dito Tributario por Hijos puede ser reembolsable o no reembolsable.
