Esta gu\u00eda se basa en el Manual de Impuestos Internos (IRS). <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irs.gov\/irm\/part21\/irm_21-008-001r\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">(IRM) 21.8.1.5.6 (10-01-2020)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>P1: \u00bfQui\u00e9n paga el <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irs.gov\/individuals\/international-taxpayers\/social-security-tax-medicare-tax-and-self-employment\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Impuesto de Seguridad Social e impuesto de Medicare<\/a> \u00bfen territorios estadounidenses como Puerto Rico y las Islas V\u00edrgenes Estadounidenses?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Los empleadores en Puerto Rico, las Islas V\u00edrgenes de los Estados Unidos y otros territorios de los Estados Unidos son responsables de pagar sus impuestos de seguro social y de Medicare al gobierno de los Estados Unidos. Lo hacen mediante <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irs.gov\/forms-pubs\/about-form-941-ss\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Formulario 941-SS<\/a>, o <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irs.gov\/forms-pubs\/about-form-941-pr\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Formulario 941-PR<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>P2: \u00bfQu\u00e9 sucede si trabajo para varios empleadores y el impuesto total del Seguro Social retenido excede el monto m\u00e1ximo para el a\u00f1o?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Si el total de la retenci\u00f3n del Seguro Social supera el l\u00edmite anual, puede solicitar un reembolso del exceso. Esto se puede hacer mediante el Formulario 1040-PR o el Formulario 1040-SS. Se recomienda que los empleados presenten estas declaraciones cuando se les retenga un exceso de la retenci\u00f3n del Seguro Social a dos o m\u00e1s empleadores.<\/p>\n<p><strong>P3: \u00bfPuedo reclamar el exceso de impuesto del Seguro Social si no necesito presentar el Formulario 1040?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>S\u00ed, si un contribuyente individual no tiene una <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irs.gov\/forms-pubs\/about-form-1040\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Formulario 1040<\/a> requisito de presentaci\u00f3n, pueden presentar una <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irs.gov\/forms-pubs\/about-form-843\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Formulario 843<\/a> Reclamaci\u00f3n para reclamar el exceso de impuesto al Seguro Social. UU. y como reclamos \u201cnacionales\u201d cuando est\u00e1 obligado a presentar una declaraci\u00f3n de impuestos en los EE. UU.<\/p>\n<p><strong>P7: \u00bfQu\u00e9 es una reclamaci\u00f3n de territorio?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>La mayor\u00eda de los contribuyentes que presentan solicitudes de impuestos de Seguridad Social en exceso no est\u00e1n obligados a presentar una declaraci\u00f3n de impuestos en Estados Unidos.
