\nTIGTA-2020-2<\/p>\n

El Inspector General del Tesoro para la Administraci\u00f3n Tributaria (TIGTA) inst\u00f3 hoy a los contribuyentes a estar en alerta m\u00e1xima ante posibles estafas relacionadas con la asistencia gubernamental a los contribuyentes afectados por el coronavirus.<\/p>\n

\u201cLa Ley de Ayuda, Alivio y Seguridad Econ\u00f3mica por el Coronavirus autoriza pagos a los contribuyentes para compensar el impacto econ\u00f3mico del coronavirus\u201d, declar\u00f3 J. Russell George, Inspector General del Tesoro para la Administraci\u00f3n Tributaria. \u201cLas anteriores iniciativas de asistencia gubernamental han sido utilizadas por delincuentes y estafadores que ven esto como una oportunidad para defraudar a los contribuyentes por todos los medios posibles\u201d.\u201d<\/p>\n

Desde 2013, TIGTA ha investigado estafas en las que individuos se hacen pasar por funcionarios del Servicio de Impuestos Internos (IRS) para obtener informaci\u00f3n de identificaci\u00f3n personal de contribuyentes desprevenidos o para obligarlos a realizar pagos para saldar supuestas deudas tributarias impagas.<\/p>\n

TIGTA tambi\u00e9n ha investigado intentos de phishing en los que los contribuyentes reciben correos electr\u00f3nicos fraudulentos que dicen provenir del IRS. Los estafadores utilizan correos electr\u00f3nicos y mensajes de texto de phishing para enga\u00f1ar a los contribuyentes de diversas maneras, como instalar software malicioso en sus computadoras y utilizar la informaci\u00f3n de las v\u00edctimas para presentar declaraciones de impuestos fraudulentas.<\/p>\n

El IRS nunca solicitar\u00e1 informaci\u00f3n personal o financiera por correo electr\u00f3nico, mensajes de texto, cartas o cualquier red social.<\/p>\n

Si recibe una llamada de alguien que dice ser del IRS y le pide su identificaci\u00f3n personal o informaci\u00f3n financiera a cambio de un pago de impacto econ\u00f3mico, tome la siguiente acci\u00f3n:<\/p>\n
